Stick dancers

They dance by setting the rhythm

The stick dance is considered one of the oldest popular dances of Catalonia. The first written references date to 1150, during the wedding banquet of Ramon Berenguer IV and Peronel·la of Aragon. 

In Girona, however, it is still a recent tradition. The Fal.lera’s group of stick dancers was created in 2009 to accompany our giant puppets. It is a good example that traditions are alive and change continually.
