Dance Ball dels Capgrossos de Girona

In 2002 Grandfather Tata and Girl were added to the set of bigheads. They were a donation from the Mutual Benefit Society of the city. In honor ot its 100th anniversary, the organization commissioned forty pairs of bigheads, all the same, and gave them to all the capitals of Catalonia’s counties.

They are fiberglass bigheads, extremely lightweight, that were made by the sculptor Ramon Aumedes of the “Sardanaca” workshop in Granollers. They represent the founder of the Mutual Benefit Soceity, Joseph Nausa i Fernando, and his granddaughter, symbolizing the past and the future. Originally, they were named Grandfather Joseph and Anna, the names of the people that were the models for the figures. In Girona, however, they have always received the names Grandfather Tata and Girl.

She is the bighead of a smiling little girl. She has several dresses, made by her usual carrier, Maria Àngels Vila.
